This offseason, LeBron James finally ended all the speculation over which team he'd potentially end his legendary career with, by signing with the Philadelphia 76ers. While many fans, former players, and sports analysts believed James might head back to his former teams, the Miami Heat or Cleveland Cavaliers, he seemingly joined a roster he could make the most impact with. He also joined a team which already featured three All-Stars in the starting lineup with Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Jaylen Brown, the latter of whom they acquired via trade with the Boston Celtics.
During a recent podcast appearance, James's former teammate, Dwyane Wade, made an intriguing comment when giving his thoughts on the NBA superstar playing in Philadelphia. "How can I say this without saying too much?" Wade asked on "Conversations with Cam" before continuing. "I don't want to say too much.
From a basketball standpoint, I thought it was a very strategic move at this point in his career. It definitely gives him the best chance." I think Miami would've been a good move, but they had a lot of moving parts that needed to go right.
I feel like this was the best chance right away from the beginning," he said. "But also, too, I don't think we've seen the end of what this move is," Wade teased regarding James. "I think it's more to this move, so I'll just leave it at that." Wade previously starred alongside James as part of a "Big Three" in Miami that also included All-Star Chris Bosh.
The trio claimed two championships with the Heat before James left to return to the team he started his career with, the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he won a third championship. His fourth came with the Los Angeles Lakers, and many believed he might end his career there. However, he decided to leave the team as a free agent this offseason and ultimately joined Philadelphia.
While Wade hinted there would be "more" for James after joining the 76ers, he didn't say much else. However, some could interpret that to mean a future business or career move involving Philadelphia. Back in 2016, James expressed interest in becoming an NBA team owner.
