New England Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins is known for marching to the beat of his own drum. Hollins frequently walks around barefoot, and he also reportedly eats without utensils and "avoid[s] house cats at all costs," as revealed by Buffalo Plus and detailed by Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports. "I think shoes are a tool," Hollins explained.
"And people have made them a part of their body. Like, I wouldn't walk around with a hammer just because I might need a hammer sometimes." "If it's a house cat, that'll steal your soul," he said. So what's next for the eccentric wide receiver and avid reader?
Apparently, he's getting into vampric literature. Hollins was spotted — while barefoot, of course — walking into Lumen Field with a copy of Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" in hand. It's a bit of an unexpected choice for Hollins.
For starters, the novel is more than two decades old now, not to mention its audience is largely teen girls. That said, the series is set in Forks, Washington, so perhaps Hollins was learning a bit about the climate and environment of the Pacific Northwest before the game. Wednesday, however, is relatively warm and sunny for the matchup, a weather pattern that's not often associated with the state of Washington.
Maybe the best answer is the simplest and Hollins is just enjoying a good read. That leaves only one major question: Who does Hollins want to see Bella Swan end up with? Is he Team Jacob or Team Edward?
We can only hope that an enterprising reporter postgame will have hard-hitting questions like these for the receiver.
