Coming from a family of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks, there was a lot of pressure on Arch Manning in his first season as the starting quarterback for Texas in 2025. Now entering his second season as the Longhorns' starting quarterback, the pressure is even higher for the fourth-year quarterback. That pressure to succeed is not just on Manning but also Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and the entire Longhorns roster.
ESPN analyst Jordan Reid made it clear that a successful season for the Longhorns means winning a national championship. "I don't think there's anyone with more pressure on them this season than Arch Manning, Steve Sarkisian and Texas. They have no excuse not to win a national title this year.
They revamped the offensive line, they've brought in two impressive running backs in Raheem Brown and Hollywood Smothers and you bring in Cam Coleman from Auburn as well. "Arch Manning has everything he needs to succeed. Now, he has to go out there and do it," Reid said.
It has been more than two decades since Texas won its last national championship in 2005, and the Longhorns have not played in the College Football Playoffs since 2024. It's a big year for Manning and the Longhorns, and their season will officially begin next weekend in the season opener against Texas State on Saturday at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.
