The first College Football Playoff (CFP) ranking of the 2026 season has been revealed, and fans have a lot to say about Notre Dame's spot in the poll. On Tuesday night, ESPN announced that Notre Dame is ranked No. 11 with a 7-1 record. Fans went to social media to weigh in on Notre Dame, and they didn't hold back.
They’ve beat nobody," one fan wrote. "They’d be outside the top 15 if I was in the committee!!!!!," another fan wrote. "The worst part is the acting that has to be done by the 'talent,'" one fan said.
"Your suits did this, and you have to play along. We get it, you don’t get enough money from ND not being in a conference." "They don’t play anybody; hilarious how they have a special rule for them with the CFP," another fan stated. Notre Dame is ranked No. 4 in the AP Poll and No. 6 in the Coaches Poll.
A big reason the Fighting Irish are ranked lower in the CFP is their schedule. Notre Dame's best win is the opener against Wisconsin, a team that lost to Iowa 30-0 this past weekend. The only opponent Notre Dame has played that is currently ranked in the Top 25 is BYU, and the Fighting Irish lost 28-24.
That said, Notre Dame has an opportunity to make a big jump in the rankings this weekend. The team will face No. 1 Miami in South Bend on Saturday night. Miami beat Notre Dame last year, and that was big for both schools.
The win helped the Hurricanes reach the CFP while keeping the Fighting Irish out.
