Oliver Glasner’s strong words about his team have been welcomed by many in the Nottingham Forest hierarchy, Sky Sports News understands. Sources at the club are impressed by his determination to get Forest out of their current slump and insist it is "business as usual" following the criticism he levelled at some of his players. Glasner said there would be "no more hugs" after his side slipped to 19th in the Premier League with Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Brentford.
Having departed Crystal Palace, Glasner was hired in the summer in an attempt to bring stability to the City Ground, after they got through four different head coaches last season. The Austrian is promising "changes" following his side's poor start to the campaign - something that is expected to be a key point of discussion when he speaks to the media again on Thursday. After the loss in West London, he said: "We have to accept it's not good enough. If we lose four of the last five games, it's not good enough. And that's why for me, it's now time that we change things, that I change things, and that's what I will do.
"I feel now maybe I made too many compromises in some stuff, and it's always compromises. I will tell [the players] what we want to do, what we have to do, and if the players buy in, I think we can have a turnaround, and if not, the sixth manager [since the start of last season] will come in." After the weekend's defeat to Brentford, Glasner added that he was not concerned for his job, adding he was committed to helping Forest change across the board. He said: "I have no consequences.
For me, I go home and have breakfast with my family. It's not the worst situation. Nobody needs to have pity with Oliver Glasner or with the manager.
If I want, I could start in two weeks somewhere else. "But, you know, the players, the staff, they remain in the same situation. And it's the same, sorry for the word, s*** situation that the club had last year.
