T'Nia Miller is one of the stars of Disney Plus' new Marvel Studios series VisionQuest, where she plays the AI villain Jocasta. Over the course of the series so far, Jocasta has revealed herself as a deadly entity, murdering several people as the so-called "Butcherbird Killer." But while playing a Marvel villain may be a new experience for Miller, the darker elements of her character hark back to some of her previous work in the horror genre, where she is known for her collaborations with writer and producer Mike Flanagan. In Flanagan's 2020 Netflix miniseries The Haunting of Bly Manor, Miller played Hannah Grose, the manager and housekeeper of the haunted mansion who was fiercely protective of the children residing there.
In Flanagan's 2023 miniseries The Fall of the House of Usher, Miller portrayed the much darker Victorine LaFourcade, a medical researcher who does illegal experiments on chimpanzees and reacts violently when challenged. So while she may not be as regular a player in Flanagan's work as other actors like Rahul Kohli or Katie Siegel, she's definitely part of the extended family. This raises a pivotal question: Given those two very memorable performances, when Polygon recently spoke with Miller about her role in VisionQuest, we also inquired as to whether or not we'll see her reteam with Flanagan on an upcoming show.
"I'm pretty sure Mike and I will collaborate — work on something in the future," Miller said in a very measured way after a grin and a long exhale. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but it seemed as though she may already know what that next project might be. Miller also said of Flanagan, "I adore the man.
I know that we'd both love to work together again, one day, so let's see." Flanagan's Carrie series was recently renewed for season 2, so maybe Miller could show up there. He's also hard at work on on an adaptation of Stephen King's Dark Tower series, which seems to be Flanagan's white whale project, along with a Warhammer series for Amazon set to star Henry Cavill. Could Miller turn up in that dark sci-fi fantasy world?
