Is there love lost between Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and one of his wide receivers? According to a former linebacker, there might be. Emmanuel Acho, an ex-NFL player and New York Times bestselling author, recently pointed out on his YouTube sports show “Pregame” that the Super Bowl champion QB doesn’t appear to trust rookie wide receiver Makai Lemon, a USC product who the Eagles drafted in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft.
After Acho points out Smith’s catch, he turns his attention to the 35-yard line where it’s seen that Lemon is wide open. ”There’s an Eagle wide-open, in the middle of the field, and his name is Makai ‘Mother-Freaking’ Lemon.” The former football player, who spent two seasons with the Eagles over a decade ago, then covered the T.J. Edward’s interception late in the third quarter where the veteran linebacker appeared to creep up and listen to Hurts play calling at the line of scrimmage on 4th & 5. Acho explains that Lemon was open on the 42-yard line, but instead targeted Smith. ”Jalen just forces the ball to DeVonta Smith because he don’t trust Makai Lemon,” he repeated.
The Eagles are currently 2-1 in the NFC East and face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
