Less than four hours after Ken LaCorte, former SVP of Fox News Digital, called out the network in a social-media post for failing to publish online coverage about the scandal involving Trump ally and ex-Fox News employee Kimberly Guilfoyle, Fox News’ website ran an article Sunday reporting that “Trump and Rubio weigh firing Kimberly Guilfoyle as misconduct and donor bailout allegations mount.” In LaCorte’s post, time-stamped 3:21 p.m. ET on Sunday (Oct. 11), he wrote in part: “I ran FoxNews.com for a decade, and this pains me to write. Kimberly Guilfoyle, former Fox employee and (as of today) ambassador to Greece, is in the midst of a serious scandal.

If true, she faces not only the likelihood of removal — something she herself acknowledged — but also the distinct possibility of prison.” LaCorte coninued, “Fox has 0 reporting online about this,” noting that the most recent article on FoxNews.com mentioning her was Dec. 10, 2024, the day Trump announced her nomination as ambassador to Greece. LaCorte — who left Fox News in 2016 — alleged that, while he doesn’t have “knowledge of the details of Fox’s action,” the situation “isn’t a simple ‘mistake’ by Fox. It’s not a biased headline or muddled article… It’s journalistic malpractice.” He added, “It’s a conscious choice to ignore a major story that has been reported worldwide by every major news outlet.” The Guilfoyle scandal broke on Oct. 7 when the Wall Street Journal reported that Guilfoyle, before her July 2025 Senate confirmation hearing to confirm her appointment as U.S. ambassador to Greece, had “reached out to a Trump donor with an urgent request: She needed $100,000 that she said she owed American Express — in a way that wouldn’t leave a paper trail.” (The Journal is housed under the Murdochs’ News Corp, whereas Fox News is part of their Fox Corp.) Fox News had briefly touched on the Guilfoyle story in its on-air programming.

On Oct. 8’s edition of “Special Report With Bret Baier,” Fox News senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich reported on the allegations against Guilfoyle saying the State Department’s inspector general “has reportedly opened a probe in to Guilfoyle’s tenure as ambassador after complaints about unreasonable requests and a lavish lifestyle.” But the news outlet had not covered the Guilfoyle scandal online until it ran a story on Sunday, time-stamped 6:55 p.m. The story that FoxNews.com ran Sunday said that Guilfoyle “may soon be fired amid reports she sought a six-figure credit card bailout from a Trump donor while offering access to administration officials.” President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are “extremely pissed off” by Guilfoyle’s reported conduct and are weighing her firing, per the Fox News report, referring to a story by the that cited a senior U.S. official. After Fox News’ site ran that story, LaCorte posted a link and commented, “Good to see Fox has now gotten around to it …” LaCorte worked at Fox News for two decades before he was “pushed out in November 2016 as part of what he called a post-Ailes ‘corporate purge,'” the New York Times reported.

Guilfoyle, who worked at Fox News from 2006-18, is the former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. and ex-wife of California Gov.
