The New York Jets selected rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. with their No. 30 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Cooper was a big contributor for the Indiana Hoosiers offense that mounted a flawless 16-0 record en route to a College Football Playoff national championship title this past season. In his fourth collegiate campaign, he reeled in 69 catches for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Now, Cooper is looking to have an immediate impact as a starting wideout for the Jets. Jets quarterback Geno Smith is impressed by what he's seen from the rookie pass catcher thus far. He's always in the right places," Smith told reporters on Tuesday.
"He's taking advantage of his opportunities when they come. And he's a guy who I think is going to continue to get better every single day just by the way that he works.” The Jets will close out their preseason schedule with a matchup against the New York Giants on Friday. Then, they'll begin their regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 13.
