The New York Giants had some good news on third-year receiver Malik Nabers, who is recovering from an ACL injury he suffered in Week 4 of the 2025 campaign. Nabers returned to practice without a non-contract jersey for the first time in training camp this summer, a promising sign that the No. 6 pick in the 2024 draft will return in the early part of the upcoming regular season, if not Week 1. When speaking to reporters after Monday's practice, John Harbaugh would not commit to Nabers playing in the Giants' season-opener at home against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13, saying he'd need to show he could "play and protect himself" in practice before he starts in the regular season.

Those are all kinds of things you can assume just based on watching the guy practice. The only thing I know more than you guys know is what the docs and the trainers tell me as far as his rehab.
"And that’s doing well, he’s doing really well with that. He’s strong, he’s in a good place. But how he gets through practice, how ready he is to play and protect himself is really based on practice.” Based on Harbaugh's comments, Nabers appears to be trending in a direction to start in Week 1, but the situation is fluid.
It would be preferable for second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart and the offense to have Nabers return as quickly as possible. Nabers had a stellar rookie season, recording 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. He caught 18 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns before the injury last season.
Still, Nabers is too important for the Giants' plans this season than to rush him back too early and watch the receiver suffer a setback. For more on the Giants and the NFL, head to Newsweek Sports.
