Cam Skattebo's rookie season with the New York Giants came to a crashing halt with a gruesome season-ending leg injury in Week 8. The young running back suffered an open ankle fracture, dislocation, fractured fibula and ruptured deltoid ligament during the Giants' matchup against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles. During a recent interview with NFL reporter Kay Adams, Skattebo admitted that he nearly walked away from the game after this devastating injury.

"The first month was kinda like damn, do I really wanna do this? But it was seven games, I've got to go back and play," Skattebo said. "Coming out of college, going into the NFL, I gave myself one rule.

If I ever got a major injury, I was done playing," he added. "That happened seven games into my career. I think that really helped me find who I am as a player and as a person." Before suffering his season-ending injury in 2025, Skattebo rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns, while reeling in 24 passes for 207 yards and two more scores.

The Giants will begin their 2026 regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13.
