New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo is questionable to take the field for Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the division-rival Washington Commanders, listed on the injury report with a shoulder issue. But when speaking to reporters on Friday, Skattebo said he will play this coming weekend. Skattebo said he was dealing with a "little muscle tightness" earlier in the week, hence the red non-contact jersey he wore during Wednesday's practice.
It appears Skattebo is ready to play a workhorse role in what he believes will be a "slogfest" against the Commanders. "I already told Coach [Matt Nagy], just give me the ball and we'll be fine," Skattebo told reporters. Skattebo returned to the field in Week 1 after recovering from the gruesome ankle injury he suffered during Week 8 of the 2025 season.
Through the first four games of the year, he has 235 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown to go along with eight catches for 67 yards. The Giants are 3-1 to open up the 2026 season, despite losing starting quarterback Jaxson Dart to a knee injury in Week 2. The team can extend its lead in the NFC East with a win over the Commanders this weekend.
Sunday's game will kickoff at 1 p.m.
