The New York Giants lost to the New Orleans Saints by a 34-27 final score in their Week 6 matchup on Sunday. Now, just days after losing to the Saints, the Giants have cut a former NFL second-round pick from their roster. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Giants have released linebacker Jihad Ward.
The Giants releasing Ward comes a few weeks after they signed him from the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad. Now, the 32-year-old will be looking for another opportunity elsewhere after being let go by the Giants. Ward appeared in two games this season with the Giants, where he recorded one solo tackle.
This is after he had five sacks and 31 combined tackles in 17 games during this past season with the Tennessee Titans. Teams looking for more experience and depth could consider taking a gamble on an 11-year NFL veteran like Ward. In 138 career NFL games, the 6-foot-5 linebacker has posted 24 sacks to go along with 200 combined tackles.
