It turns out Gnarls Barkley’s first tour in 18 years this November will instead feature Cee Lo Green taking the duo’s music on the road without Danger Mouse. Last week, it was revealed that Gnarls Barkley would embark on the To Whom It Still Concerns Tour, advertised as the group’s first trek since 2008. The tour was in support of Gnarls’ third and “final” album Atlanta, which was released earlier this year.
Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) was not scheduled to participate in the tour dates. CeeLo Green will perform the duo’s music for fans across North America.” A rep for Danger Mouse tells Rolling Stone that the musician “was never planning on going on tour, but the duo agreed that Green could use the Gnarls Barkley name for the tour.” (A rep for Green did not respond to a request for comment.) The Live Nation page for the Gnarls Barkley tour was quietly edited between when the tour was first announced and press time to include the disclaimer, “Please note: Danger Mouse will not be appearing on the upcoming To Whom It Still Concerns tour.” The poster for the tour was also modified to include “CeeLo Green Performing” above the words “Gnarls Barkley.” Green himself added on social media, “Danger mouse will not be performing. We want no misunderstandings / disappointments etc.
