Godzilla is getting the prime spot at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF). Takashi Yamazaki’s “Godzilla Minus Zero,” the highly anticipated sequel to the Oscar-winning “Godzilla Minus One,” will be the centerpiece of the 39th edition of Japan’s largest film festival, organizers said Wednesday. The festival will be held from Oct. 26 to Nov. 4 at venues in and around the Tokyo Midtown Hibiya shopping and entertainment complex.
Starring Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe, “Godzilla Minus Zero” is the first Japanese feature shot for IMAX screens. It is set in 1949, two years after the events of “Godzilla Minus One,” and follows the same protagonists as Japan rebuilds in the aftermath of war.
