The Los Angeles Chargers could soon part ways with offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel amid an 0-6 start to the season.

With the Super Bowl set to be in their territory, there was some chatter around the league that the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams could play each other in February's game at SoFi Stadium. After Week 6, both teams have a combined 2-10 record. The Chargers have yet to win their first game of the season.

The Chargers are in crisis mode at their bye in Week 7, and Los Angeles could soon be announcing a coaching change at offensive coordinator. Following a 22-6 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday, McDaniel's offense is averaging an anemic 15 points per contest.

Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, there is "growing buzz" the Chargers will fire McDaniel. "There’s a growing buzz that the Chargers will be making that move, soon," Florio wrote. "Pass game specialist Adam Gase, a former head coach of the Jets and Dolphins, is expected to take over, if McDaniel is fired." Amid the many problems with the offense is Justin Herbert.

The Pro Bowl quarterback entered the day having thrown five touchdowns to seven interceptions. He threw for 204 yards and one interception in the loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. During his postgame news conference, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh took a different tone than he has in previous conferences when asked about the status of McDaniel.

He suggested Los Angeles would look at everything this week, including the possibility of making a coaching move to help the offense. "We're going to look at everything. ... I feel bad for our players, our team, our coaches, our fans," Harbaugh said, via Noah Furtado of The Athletic.

"And (the offense) needs to be addressed." How deep the offense will be addressed at the bye remains to be seen. For more on the Chargers and the NFL, head to Newsweek Sports.
