The Kansas City Chiefs lost their first game of the 2026 season to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a pretty embarrassing fashion. The reigning Super Bowl champions won 20-3. The Chiefs could've had more points on the board if their kicker Harrison Butker wasn't off of his game on Sunday night.
Butker missed two of the three field goal attempts he had during the game. The first field goal attempt Butker had was at the end of the first half. The Kansas City offense set him up for a tricky field goal from 58 yards.
It's nothing he couldn't handle as he's made 37-of-59 field goals from the 50-plus-yard range in his career. But, on Sunday night he found it difficult to kick the ball through the uprights. The Chiefs ended the first half with zero points opposed to Seattle's 10.
Butker then made a 50-yard field goal in the third quarter to put his team on the board. Then, on the next Chiefs' drive, Butker missed a 45-yard field goal attempt. The Chiefs never got back into scoring position and lost the game.
Butker has now missed five field goals this season, which is the most in the NFL so far this season. Four of those misses came from more than 50 yards out. He's only missed one extra point attempt, though, which is good.
Since the start of the 2025 season, Butker has now missed a total of 15 kicks — 10 field goals and five extra points. This is the most misses in the NFL during that span, the ' Josh Dubow reported. This is definitely not ideal for the Chiefs as every point counts during an NFL game.
