The 78th annual Emmy Awards take place Monday, Sept. 14, bringing together the casts and creators behind the year’s biggest shows — from “The Pitt” and “Hacks” to “Pluribus,” “Widow’s Bay” and “Beef.” The ceremony airs live coast-to-coast from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles beginning at 8 p.m.
PT on NBC, with Peacock serving as the official streaming home of the Emmys. The easiest way for cord-cutters to watch the Emmys online is with Peacock, which will livestream the complete ceremony alongside its NBC broadcast. Peacock Premium currently costs $12.99 per month, while Premium Plus runs $19.99 per month.
Both plans include access to the live Emmys telecast; Premium Plus removes ads from much of Peacock’s on-demand library, though commercials can still appear during live events. Viewers can also watch NBC online through live-TV streaming services that carry their local NBC station. Options include Hulu + Live TV, DirecTV, Fubo and Sling TV.
Hulu + Live TV offers a three-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Availability of local NBC stations can vary by market. Variety and CNN are also joining forces for live coverage from the Emmys red carpet.
ET and will stream on CNN.com/Watch and the CNN app for CNN streaming subscribers, giving viewers three hours of arrivals, interviews and fashion coverage before the main ceremony. CNN correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister and Variety co-president and co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh will host the special live from the carpet, with Melissa Rivers joining throughout the evening to weigh in on the night’s fashion and biggest arrivals. The appearance marks Rivers’ first return to an awards-show red carpet in nearly 20 years, following the years she spent covering Hollywood alongside her mother, Joan Rivers.
Hargitay is already an Emmy winner herself for playing Olivia Benson on the long-running NBC procedural and enters Monday’s ceremony fresh off Creative Arts Emmy wins for her documentary “My Mom Jayne.” “The Pitt” enters Monday night as the most-nominated show of the year with 25 nods, as the HBO Max medical drama looks to repeat its success from last year. Noah Wyle is again among the acting contenders, while Katherine LaNasa and Taylor Dearden are among the show’s heavily nominated ensemble. On the comedy side, “Hacks” earned 24 nominations for its fifth and final season, setting a new record for the most nominations received by a comedy series in a single year.
