A senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says Iran’s defensive posture is poised to shift to an offensive one, warning Tehran’s enemies to “anticipate strategic surprises”. Brigadier General Yadollah Javani told state media that the shift marks a significant transformation in the military’s strategic doctrine, and a clear signal to adversaries that Iran’s approach is evolving to meet and exceed the challenges of modern warfare. He highlighted the mandate given to the new Commander-in-Chief, Major General Ahmad Vahidi, who he said has emphasised “maximum deterrence”.
Under this approach, he said, any defensive action taken by the armed forces will inherently take on an offensive shape to proactively neutralise threats.
