Justin Dubin, MD, urologist and men’s health specialist at Baptist Health, says that generally when you can’t see the penis, it’s usually because of low abdominal tissue surrounding the penis. Essentially, your penis is still its regular size, but it doesn’t extend outside the body.

Drogo Montague, MD, a urologist in Ohio tells MH what that looks like. While the rates of buried penises haven’t been thoroughly studied, Dr. Montague sees more men in his office today dealing with the issue than he has in the past. His booked-up calendar is no coincidence.

The World Health Organization reported that 1 in 7 people is living with obesity. And even though we are living in the golden age of GLP-1s, half of adults worldwide are expected to be overweight or obese by 2050. The penis itself has two erection chambers.
