It wouldn't shock me IF: NFL Week 4: Josh Allen continues historic streak, Cam Ward gets benched

Could Tennessee pull the plug on Cam Ward? Will Josh Allen extend his historic rushing touchdown streak?

Every NFL season will bring with it some surprises, and this year is no exception. We expect a few more to come in Week 4. The Rams, who were thought to be a superteam coming into the year, are 1-2, Drake Maye leads the NFL in interceptions after being runner-up for MVP last year, and the Raiders are one of the remaining undefeated teams in the NFL at 3-0.

Had you told someone any one of those outcomes back in the summer, they likely would've laughed in your face. That's the crazy part about the NFL and why it's embedded in the fabric of the country; It's so unpredictable. That said, we try to do our best to put you on to some of those unexpected developments before they reveal themselves around the corner.

For instance, we told you last week that Jets rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq was primed for a breakout performance and set to find the end zone, which he did with an amazing diving reception. Naturally, given the unpredictability of the league, we won't bat a thousand here -- like predicting a stinker for the Steelers offense only for them to post 30 points in Week 3. That said, we'll try to put you on to some of the potential storylines/performances bubbling just under the surface of the league that could rear their heads in Week 4.

I feel like I have to disclose this like I'm some sort of stockbroker: This is NOT fantasy football advice. I wouldn't let Pitts sniff a starting spot in lineups if you can help it, as he's continued to disappoint managers. That said, I think he pops (by his standards) on Monday night as the Falcons visit the New Orleans Saints.

Pitts has been bad this season, catching just two of his six targets for 20 yards over three games played. If Pitts was going to show any signs of life for the Falcons offense, it should be in this head-to-head. So far this season, the Saints have allowed the second-most receptions (25) and third-most receiving yards (250) to tight ends.

While the bulk of that damage was done by Brock Bowers last week when he hauled in 10 balls for 116 yards receiving and a touchdown, Sam LaPorta (five catches for 48 yards) and Mark Andrews (six catches for 49 yards) had respectable showings as well. Given how low the expectations have fallen for Pitts, if he notches 50 receiving yards, it'd feel like a more improbable feat than Neil Armstrong setting foot on the moon. That said, Pitts did record six catches (on nine targets) for 58 yards the last time he faced New Orleans back in Week 18 last season.
