The Jacksonville Jaguars started the 2026 NFL season in style as they cruised to victory 34-10 against the Cleveland Browns. However, the team did suffer what appeared to be a worrying injury in the second quarter as wideout Brian Thomas Jr. came out with a shoulder problem, although he did later return. Thomas was limited on Monday's practice after the game, however head coach Liam Coen revealed that he "fully expects" the former first round wideout to participate in Week 2's tough matchup at the Denver Broncos, as reported by ESPN's Michael DiRocco.
"Jaguars HC Liam Coen said WR Brian Thomas Jr. (shoulder) will be limited this week", DiRocco reported on Sep. 14, before quoting Coen in saying, "I fully imagine him being able to play this game [at Denver], no issues, just might not be able to get hit throughout the week or something." Thomas Jr. is coming off a disappointing sophomore season in 2025 that followed a breakout rookie year in 2024. The ascendence of Parker Washington, who lead the team in targets, receptions and yards, along with the trade for Jakobi Meyers no doubt caused a reduction in his usage, but his production even before then at the start of last season appeared to be off. Now appearing to be the joint -#2 with Meyers in what is quickly looking like one of the better rounded receiving corps in the NFL, Thomas will be looking to show that 2024 was not an accident, and that he is able to live up to his first round status and remind the league exactly what he is capable of.
