Jayden Daniels could return for the Washington Commanders much quicker than most thought after suffering an elbow dislocation.

When star quarterback Jayden Daniels went down with a gruesome-looking elbow injury in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, many believed the Washington Commanders’ season was over. However, after multiple evaluations and doctor visits, there’s some optimism that’s not the case. In fact, according to The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero, the Commanders are optimistic that Daniels will return to the field much sooner than they initially believed.

Mariota completed 19 of 31 passes for 183 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions with a passer rating of 111.0. He’s passed for 294 yards and four touchdowns with zero turnovers in the two games he’s filled in for Daniels. If Mariota can deliver a similar performance against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday morning in London, there’s a good chance the Commanders could be 2-2 heading into their Week 5 clash with the division rival New York Giants and Daniels possibly returning.

Daniels missed 10 games last season, including seven because of the same elbow dislocation he suffered this year. He missed three games after initially suffering the elbow injury in Week 9. He returned in Week 14 and re-aggravated the injury, forcing him to miss another four games.

Fortunately for the Commanders, Daniels’ injury is to his non-throwing elbow.
