Jazz Chisholm Jr Sounds Off on Yankees Fans Booing Him

Jazz Chisholm Jr. made it clear that he was confused by New York Yankees fans booing him during Game 3 against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The New York Yankees' playoff run came to an end with their Game 3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night. It was simply a bad series for the Yankees, as they were swept by Tampa Bay. Several Yankees players struggled during their series against Tampa Bay, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. was certainly one of them.

It even led to the 28-year-old being booed by Yankees fans during Game 3. While speaking to The Athletic's Brendan Kuty following the game, Chisholm expressed that he was confused about why Yankees fans booed him. "It’s just confusing because it’s the playoffs and we’re trying to win games," Chisholm said.

"So, you’re booing a guy that’s playing currently, trying to help the team win. And I’m hearing boos instead of trying to hype guys up, you know what I mean?" Clearly, Chisholm was taken aback by Yankees fans booing him. However, it is understandable why they did, as Chisholm and the Yankees as a club simply played bad baseball throughout the series.

Now, Chisholm is entering the offseason as a free agent. Questions about his future in New York are only continuing to come up following his rough postseason, and it will be interesting to see if the Yankees end up letting him walk. Chisholm had a .182 batting average in four playoff games for the Yankees.

This was after he posted 19 home runs and a .231 batting average in 137 regular season games this year for New York. Overall, Chisholm had a down year in 2026, but that should not stop teams from targeting him in free agency if the Yankees do not re-sign him.
