Jimmy Eat World have been celebrating the 25th anniversary of Bleed American all year. On Monday, they revealed one more unique element of the festivities: special edition library cards. The public library in the band's hometown of Mesa, AZ is offering limited edition Jimmy Eat World library cards.

The card is designed to look like an old-school ticket stub, but it doesn't commemorate a specific Jimmy Eat World gig. Instead, the date on the card is Bleed American's release date, July 24, 2001. The card also commemorates 120 years of the Mesa Public Library; a 120th anniversary celebration is taking place at the Main Library this Saturday, the first day the Jimmy Eat World cards will be available.

Jimmy Eat World formed in Mesa in 1993. All four members of the band grew up there. They collectively shared this statement: We couldn't be more excited to partner with the Mesa Public Library to design a Jimmy Eat World inspired library card to help celebrate their 120th Anniversary.

We all grew up within a mile or so of the library in downtown Mesa and some of our earliest memories as kids were visits with our families or classmates to check out our favorite books. We believe so strongly in supporting ALL public libraries, but in particular Mesa Public Library because of all it has and continues to provide the community. Mesa Public Library cards are free to anyone who lives in Maricopa County for at least 30 consecutive days a year or who works, owns property, or attends school within the county.

Current Mesa Public Library cardholders can exchange their old card for the Jimmy Eat World design for free. New members can visit any branch with a photo ID and register for a card.
