Jon Stewart enlisted disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes to mock Donald Trump’s close relationship with his aide Natalie Harp on The Daily Show. The late night host returned Tuesday night following a month-long hiatus. In his opening monologue, Stewart took aim at several of Trump’s most controversial moves in recent weeks, including his decision to rename Lake Ontario “Lake America.” The comedian then turned his attention to Harp, a White House aide who has become a fixture at Trump’s side and has been dubbed the president’s “Human Printer” for supplying him with printed copies of favorable news coverage.
Stewart also addressed letters Harp had written for Trump, described as “love letters” by TMZ and published by The Daily Beast last month, in which she reportedly told the president: “I never want to bring you anything but joy.” “This is unbelievable,” Stewart said. And from there, she is the filter to all of the information that is directly fed into Donald Trump’s psyche.” “By the way, Natalie Harp had repeatedly declined to get security clearances. Can we even trust her?” Stewart asked.

In The Daily Show’s version, Trump’s face was superimposed over Fielder’s as Holmes asks intensely: “Why would I deceive you? There’s no — there’s no reason for me to do that.” Fielder and Holmes’s intense exchange in the trailer has spawned a wave of memes online, after viewers were left transfixed by their unbroken eye contact and Holmes’s unnerving smile. The film, which sees the famously deadpan comedian living with Holmes and her husband, Billy Evans, before she is sent to prison, is scheduled for release in October.
Stewart’s remarks come amid intensifying scrutiny of Trump’s relationship with Harp. New financial disclosures released this week revealed that the commander-in-chief gave her a $45,000 cash holiday gift last year, in addition to her $150,000 government salary.
