Lately, Justin Timberlake has been taking stock of his past. Not a month ago, he was out here apologizing for his youthful beatboxing exploits. It seems that reflection came in the context of a larger project looking back on his life.
Timberlake is prepping a four-part "tell-all" docuseries about his life for release on Apple TV this December, Variety reports. We don't know much about the series yet, but it reportedly features interviews with Janet Jackson, who suffered career and reputational damage when Timberlake exposed her breast in a "wardrobe malfunction" during the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2004. The Justin/Janet incident is one of many that has come under scrutiny in recent years as Timberlake's public persona has taken a nosedive.
On the 20th anniversary of that event, Timberlake shared a statement apologizing "to absolutely fucking nobody." He's also taken heat for urging Britney Spears to have an abortion when they were dating, as Spears reported in her memoir, and became a meme for his 2024 DWI arrest in the Hamptons. (Alas, per the released footage, he didn't actually say, "This is going to ruin the tour.") Given that Timberlake seems to have creative control over this project, it will be interesting to see what he delves into and how much culpability he takes for past missteps. I'm sure there are plenty of crazy stories to be told about the height of *NSYNC and his years as a solo pop superstar too.
