It's hard to believe, but just over eight months ago, Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks were struggling big time. The Knicks lost their fourth straight game on Jan. 19 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) to drop to 25-18 and Towns was at the center of furious NBA trade rumors, primarily involving Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
KAT and company then turned things around and tore through the NBA playoffs on the way to New York's first championship in 53 years. Towns and the Knicks are currently stuck in their negotiations on a contract extension for the big man, but the six-time All-Star recently revealed that things were much more dire over the winter. The 30-year-old Towns told NBA senior writer Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic that he and now-wife Jordyn Woods started looking at homes in Milwaukee amid the past trade rumors.
"We were on Zillow looking at Milwaukee," Towns said, per Krawczynski. "Like, 'Hey, babe, I went around town, and it’s not that bad. This could be a good spot right here.'" Antetokounmpo ended up remaining with the Bucks through the end of the 2025-26 season before being sent to the Miami Heat in June.
Towns not only helped New York win its first title in over five decades but fully won over Knicks fans in the process. He ended New York's playoff run with a team-leading 10.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, while ranking second in assists (4.9) and third in points per contest (15.9). Towns has certainly earned his next payday.
