LSU's Leavitt helped lead his team on a late-game drive to try to win, but his fourth-down end zone pass attempt was intercepted by defensive back Jaylon Braxton, securing Ole Miss's win. "I'm proud of the way the guys battled back," Kiffin said of his team's effort, per ESPN. But at the end, we didn't finish.
We could have finished on defense and stopped them. We let them go down and score. And then on offense, we moved down and then stalled there at the end." Ole Miss's Chambliss threw for 363 passing yards and two touchdowns.
Chambliss also added another rushing touchdown to help his side prevail under head coach Pete Golding, who earned a big win over Kiffin after working as his defensive coordinator at Ole Miss for several seasons. For LSU, Leavitt didn't fare quite as well, completing 16 of 27 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown with one interception. The Tigers quarterback also added 63 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in his latest performance.
