The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that Max Domi will not be ready for the start of training camp and is out indefinitely.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced some rough news regarding forward Max Domi as they continue to get closer to the start of their training camp. While speaking with The Canadian Press' Joshua Clipperton, Maple Leafs general manager John Chayka shared that Domi will not be ready for the start of training camp and that he will be out indefinitely. "Max is going to come and be evaluated," Chayka said.

"He's not going to be ready to start training camp. He's going to be out indefinitely. At the right time in the near future, he wants to address it himself, and I think that's best for him to do.

We'll leave it at that." The Maple Leafs announced back in May that Domi had surgery to address a problem he had throughout the 2025-26 season and was considered to be out indefinitely due to "complications arising from the procedure." Now, with this latest update from Chayka, it is clear that Domi is still feeling the impact of his injury. This is tough news for the Maple Leafs, as Domi is a solid part of their forward group. In 80 games last season for the Original Six club, the 11-year NHL veteran posted 12 goals, 24 assists, 36 points, and 95 penalty minutes.

Domi is entering the third season of his four-year, $15 million contract during the 2026-27 campaign.
