Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons made his long-awaited return to practice on Wednesday. He's been out since last December when he tore his ACL in his left knee during a game. Parsons was limited in practice, which was expected.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Parsons would be taking it "one day at a time." As for when Parsons is predicted to compete in a game, that's still up in the air. LaFleur previously said the team's Thanksgiving Eve game against the Los Angeles Rams was the target, but Parsons doesn't want to throw a date out there yet. That's understandable as he only practiced once.
I just want it to be a fulfilling moment for myself, the staff—just to enjoy that day and not put too much pressure on that day. My family even been asking me, ‘You going to play? Should we buy flights to come out there?’ ...
You can buy your flight and cancel last minute, that’s up to you, but I’m not going to pinpoint a day to disappoint anyone or get people expectations that I can’t meet. I gotta stack 20 days and hopefully on that 21st day I feel incredible.” The likely reason Parsons is hesitant to say a projected return date is because he originally said publicly that he would return to practice in September, but here we are in November. He doesn't want to let his team, family and friends down.
And, he doesn't want to force his recovery process. Parsons opened up about his recovery process to reporters on Wednesday, explaining that it's a "miracle" he's even available to practice at this point. At this point, his knee feels "really great," he said.
"I had a lot of damage done to my leg, and it's a miracle I'm even standing here today and that they opened my window this early, because even then it was like 'Hey, I don't know even know if you'll be back in November,'" Parsons said, via CBS58's Cameron Ezeir. Shortly after practice ended, Parsons tweeted a message to his fans. He's hopeful he'll get back to his true football self soon.
