Micah Parsons Calls Out Jayden Daniels for 'Inexcusable' Blunder in Week 5 Tie

Micah Parsons bashed Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels for taking a sack at the end of overtime on Sunday.

Micah Parsons was baffled by the overtime finish between two former NFC East rivals. The Washington Commanders and New York Giants ended Week 5 with a 27-27 tie after Jayden Daniels mismanaged the final moments. With his offense in field goal range during the closing minute, the quarterback took a sack.

Time expired before Washington could return to the line of scrimmage and run another play. Parsons blamed the miscue on Daniels rather than Commanders head coach Dan Quinn, the star pass rusher's former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator. The Green Bay Packers star thinks Quinn's position is in jeopardy after the mishap.

"Jayden Daniels probably cost my man Dan Quinn his job, to be honest with you," Parsons said on his The Edge podcast. And, like, I'm a big Jayden Daniels fan. But the reality is, he probably cost a lot of people their jobs this past weekend." Parsons seemed confident that Quinn and his staff prepared Daniels for the moment, saying that NFL teams coach players on clock management and late-game situations "every day." "We get coached so much on these situations that I'm a defensive player, and this [expletive] programmed to me," Parsons said.

"I even know what to do in those situations. There's no way I'm taking a sack with 14 seconds left and no timeouts. And mind you, it'd be different if Jayden Daniels was a rookie.

You've been to the NFC Championship Game. You've been in big moments before." Parsons also couldn't believe that Daniels and his teammates didn't hurry after the sack and make a better effort to spike the ball in time to attempt a field goal. "He's not even urgently getting up," Parsons said.

"...That is disgusting, bro." Daniels is eligible to sign a long-term extension after the 2026 season, but Parsons warned him that franchise quarterbacks can't make those types of plays. "This is your job to be prepared to understand the game and understand situations. That's in your job profile," Parsons continued.
