Six former Utah players came forward to discuss their experience, saying they felt pressured to play through injuries. Whittingham, now head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, vehemently denied these allegations during a recent appearance on the "Dan Patrick Show." “Never in my career have I ever tried to sway, influence, whatever the word is, our medical staffs.
You know, wherever I’ve been. We listen to the medical staff,” Whittingham said. And if they say he’s not available, we go with that.
So, I’m not sure where this came from or what the, you know — just how it ever materialized. "But, never in my career have we ever crossed the line of trying to override a medical decision by our medical staff.” The University of Utah responded to these allegations with an official statement earlier this week.
