Minnesota Vikings running back Jordan Mason is heading to the short-term injured reserve after suffering a small fracture in his thumb during Sunday's Week 1 victory over the Green Bay Packers. As a result of this IR move, Mason will miss at least the next four games. In a corresponding roster move, the Vikings signed veteran running back DeeJay Dallas to the 53-man roster.
Former Cleveland Browns ball carrier Jerome Ford was also added to Minnesota's practice squad. Mason finished Sunday's Week 1 victory over the Packers with a team-high 15 carries for 59 yards and one touchdown. He split backfield work with veteran RB Aaron Jones Sr., who took 12 carries for 40 yards and a touchdown of his own.
Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray suffered a concussion during the first drive of his Minnesota career on Sunday, and his status for this coming weekend's matchup against the Chicago Bears is uncertain. Murray was replaced by veteran signal caller Carson Wentz, who led the Vikings to a 39-22 win over the Packers. Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Bears will kick off at 1 p.m.
