The Los Angeles Rams have a lot to be excited about heading into the new season. But, this right here might be one of the biggest reasons yet. Fox Sports named Myles Garrett the best player in the NFL, putting the Rams' newest defensive star at the very top of the list.
That's a major statement, but Garrett has certainly given everyone reason to believe he belongs there. Garrett was a unanimous Defensive Player of the Year winner last season with the Cleveland Browns after setting the NFL single-season record with 23 sacks. Now, he's joining a loaded Rams front.
That's where things could get really sweet. Sports news: Broncos QB Bo Nix Already Easing Concerns Heading Into 2026 Garrett finished last season with four sacks over his final six games, but the bigger question is what he could do with even more chances in Los Angeles. The Browns' opponents attempted just 487 passes last season, which was the third-fewest of any team.
The Rams' opponents, meanwhile, threw the ball 102 more times. That's a lot more chances for someone like Garrett to get after the quarterback. Garrett already managed to set the NFL's single-season sack record despite facing fewer chances than other pass rushers.
Put him on a team that's ahead more often and forcing opponents to throw, and suddenly the idea of Garrett breaking his own record doesn't seem quite so wild. Could we actually see the first 25-sack season in NFL history? It's certainly possible, and if Garrett gets there, the buzz around him could become much bigger than Defensive Player of the Year.

That's a massive hypothetical, but Garrett has already shown that he's capable of doing things most defensive players simply can't. Now, he gets to do it with the Rams.
