LeBron James' helicopter deal with Fanatics has drawn attention ahead of his first season as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers franchise. James, who signed a two-year, veteran-minimum deal with the 76ers this past offseason, commutes back-and-forth from New York City to Philadelphia on a helicopter paid for by the sports apparel giant. This unique deal has sparked questions and speculation regarding the nature of the agreement.
However, NBA commissioner Adam Silver insists the deal is completely within the rules of the league. "He has a deal with Fanatics. It's perfectly appropriate if part of his deal is they're gonna supply a helicopter to him as long as it's just a deal between the Fanatics and LeBron and no team is involved, there's no rules issue there whatsoever," Silver said during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show." James and the 76ers will begin their 2026-27 regular-season campaign with an Opening Day matchup against the reigning NBA-champion New York Knicks later this evening.
The game will tip off at 7 p.m. ET from New York's Madison Square Garden.
