New Update Emerges on Brendan Sorsby’s NFL Draft Plans

Former Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby is working with a notable quarterbacks coach to help boost his 2027 NFL draft stock.

Just a few months ago, Brendan Sorsby believed he would be on an NFL roster right now. However, the NFL decided not to hold a supplemental draft this offseason, and it ruled that Sorsby couldn’t enter the league until he was eligible for an NFL draft, meaning he’s effectively in limbo until the 2027 draft next April because he was deemed ineligible to play for Texas Tech after admitting he bet on college football while enrolled at Indiana. Most scouts agree Sorsby has first-round talent.

But whether or not he even gets drafted next season depends on how satisfied teams are with his attempt to rehabilitate his image and stay out of trouble in his year off. Despite having to sit out and not play football for an entire year, Sorsby plans to enter the 2027 NFL draft. But what is he doing during his downtime?

According to The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero, he’s working with a highly regarded quarterbacks coach in hopes to best prepare himself for next year. Each week since this season began, Sorsby has trained as if he’s game-planning for a specific NFL defense.” Several teams were linked to Sorsby this offseason including the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Cleveland and Pittsburgh will likely still have QB questions next year, and Sorsby could be a legit option for both teams.

Several top draft experts have their reservations about Sorsby going in the first round of the 2027 draft, but it’s plausible he could hear his name called sometime on Day 2.
