NFL Insider: Titans RB is 'More Likely' Trade Than Jonathan Taylor

Titans running back Tony Pollard could become an NFL trade deadline option for teams unable to acquire Colts star Jonathan Taylor.

Trade rumors have been heating up regarding some of the NFL's top running backs, including the Indianapolis Colts' Jonathan Taylor and Philadelphia Eagles' Saquon Barkley. However, ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano recently shed light on the speculation involving the two superstars, suggesting that the Tennessee Titans are "more likely" to trade running back Tony Pollard than the Colts or Eagles are to move their respective stars. Pollard could become a fallback plan for teams that were interested in acquiring Taylor, as the Colts currently appear reluctant to trade their star running back.

However, that stance could always change. Pollard is playing in his third season for the Titans after beginning the first part of his career in Dallas. This season, he's racked up 478 yards and four touchdowns in seven games for the 1-6 Titans.

He currently ranks among the top 10 running backs in carries and total rushing yards. More news: Adam Schefter Drops Major Update on Colts-Jonathan Taylor Trade Rumors While Graziano suggested Pollard could get traded before Taylor, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently mentioned that an AFC executive doesn't believe Tennessee will "take weapons away from the quarterback right now." Despite their struggles over the past several seasons, they've been building around former No. 1 pick Cam Ward, drafting Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate earlier this year in the first round. Two teams mentioned as potential fits for Pollard are the Washington Commanders and Minnesota Vikings.

Minnesota ranks fourth-worst in the league in total offense, highlighting its offensive struggles despite an undefeated start behind a stellar defense. Aaron Jones Sr. has been dealing with his lingering knee/MCL injury and left this past Sunday's game against the Colts because of it. The Commanders could also use help with their running game, with Jacory "Bill" Croskey-Merritt going on injured reserve last week with a groin injury and missing at least four weeks.

They've relied on other options, including Rachaad White and Austin Ekeler, but a solid back like Pollard could be a better answer to their issues. It's also worth noting that an ESPN article recently ranked the top trade candidates; Pollard ranked 24th and was given just a 15% predicted chance of being traded. Pollard also just had his best game of the season for the Titans last weekend, rushing for 129 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

He ranks among the top 10 in carries and yards, so taking him away from an already-struggling Tennessee offense would be surprising, unless they get the right trade offer.
