"Big Dom" could soon have to make a trip to 345 Park Avenue. The NFL reportedly has launched an investigation into Philadelphia Eagles head of security, Dom DiSandro, according to longtime reporter Derrick Gunn. DiSandro was never named specifically, but there is a strong belief that he was involved in an incident where former Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho was told not to admit fault after being involved in a car accident in which he rear-ended someone on his way to practice, with the investigation beginning shortly after Acho told the story on his Speakeasy podcast in August.
"He says, Acho, when the cop shows up, send the cop away. I’m going to send you another cop, and that other cop is going to say it wasn’t your fault; it was their fault. I was like, ‘Wait, they do that?’ “So I hit him, cop comes up, ‘Hey, is everything good?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, everything’s good, don’t worry about it, somebody’s gonna come here.
That cop leaves; we send another cop. The other cop that comes to document says that she’s at fault... Our head of security had to offer them two home tickets plus signed jerseys and then they were like, ‘Oh, no, we’re fine.'” Acho never said which team he was on when the incident occurred, though he spent two years with the Eagles and just had short stints with the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants.
Acho's story only ever came up because of discussion into an offseason incident involving San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. It'll remain to be seen whether or not the investigation leads to anything, but if it does, perhaps the league won't be done at just one team. It's possible this is just the tip of the iceberg.
