A registered sex offender with a history of arrests for allegedly crouching behind women and smelling them has been sentenced to 170 days in county jail for violating his parole following his latest arrest in Glendale. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Calese Crowder, 39, was found to have violated his parole after police responded to reports of suspicious behavior at several businesses. Crowder was arrested Aug. 28 after officers received reports of a man crouching near customers and attempting to smell them, according to the Glendale Police Department.
Officers were first called around 3:30 p.m. to a store in the 1500 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard, where witnesses reported seeing a man “hunkered down” and getting unusually close to customers to smell them, police said. Police were later called to a Marshalls near South Brand Boulevard and East Broadway following reports of similar behavior. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the businesses and identified the man as Crowder, police said.
Officers later located him in the 100 block of South Brand Boulevard and arrested him on suspicion of violating his parole. Crowder has a history of arrests involving similar allegations in Glendale and neighboring Burbank dating back to 2021, police said. He was arrested twice within two months last summer and later admitted violating his parole, resulting in a sentence of more than 100 days in jail.
Crowder was also arrested in 2023 after allegedly peeping into a family’s Glendale home. That same year, he attracted widespread attention after a woman posted a TikTok video that allegedly showed him crouching behind her at a Barnes & Noble in Burbank and attempting to smell her. Following the latest finding that he violated his parole, Crowder was sentenced to 170 days in county jail.
