Bruce Brown Jr. could be on his way back to a familiar place. The Denver Nuggets have a lot to figure out this offseason, but a reunion with Brown would make sense for a team that already knows exactly what the veteran guard can bring. Sometimes a player's best fit is also the one he's already experienced.
Brown helped Denver win a championship during the 2022-23 season, giving the Nuggets a reliable role player who understood how to fit around Nikola Jokic and the team's stars. He also had one of the best 3-point shooting seasons of his career that year, connecting on 38.5% of his attempts from deep. Brown has generally been at his best when he's not trying to do too much. That's part of what made his previous stint with Denver work. He has to defend, knock down open shots when they're available, move the ball and make the plays that help Jokic and the rest of the Nuggets' core succeed.
He's also comfortable doing the less glamorous things that don't always show up in a box score. His career-best role with Denver came without needing to become a major offensive option, and that could make a return particularly appealing. Brown's most effective 3-point shooting has come when he's been selective, and he's a career 38.1% shooter from beyond the arc.
Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report named the player among the top remaining NBA free agents to watch. A return to Denver could make sense for both sides, particularly if Brown is willing to come back on another minimum-level deal.
