Nvidia is preparing to launch an employee-funded political action committee as part of an effort to shape U.S. policy, according to a person familiar with the decision. The source said the new organization will be named NVPAC. Federal political action committees, or PACs, are routinely used by corporations to direct financial donations toward political candidates who support their business objectives.
With this move, Nvidia follows tech giants like Meta Platforms and Alphabet's Google in establishing a dedicated committee to influence election campaigns. Company leaders already contribute to political campaigns. Records from the Federal Election Commission indicate executives Gavin Sherry and Sundeep Madra gave $443,000 to the Republican National Committee on June 24.
Bloomberg Government first disclosed the initiative. Nvidia declined to offer comment. The move comes after CEO Jensen Huang cultivated a close relationship with President Trump at the start of his second term.
Huang has met repeatedly with lawmakers and administration officials this year as Washington considers how to regulate artificial intelligence. Late last year, Huang achieved a major policy win when Trump reversed course and allowed Nvidia to sell its export-focused H20 chips to China at a 15 percent cut. Trump also enabled the firm to sell its more powerful H200 chips to China for a 25 percent revenue cut.
In May, Huang traveled to China with Trump during a state visit with President Xi. Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic established a similar employee-funded group in April named "AnthroPAC." That committee raised upwards of $350,000 from staff within months and closed July with more than $276,000, filing records show.
