Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are 3-1 to open up the 2026 college football season. After beginning the year with a victory over Boise State, the Ducks dropped a disappointing upset loss at the hands of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. They quickly bounced back with an 84-0 win over Portland State and a gutsy 41-27 victory over the No. 12 ranked USC Trojans this past weekend.
Now, Oregon turns its attention toward a matchup against the UCLA Bruins on Oct. 10. UCLA is 4-0 to begin their 2026 campaign, notching wins over Cal, San Diego State, Purdue and Maryland. When talking about the Ducks' upcoming matchup, Lanning compared the Bruins to the 2025 Indiana Hoosiers team that unexpectedly ran the table en route to their College Football Playoff national championship title.
"We're about to play a UCLA team that reminds me a lot of Indiana from last year. And let's just be honest, we're not remotely close to what we need to be. So no offense but we can't spend a week talking about [the last] game," Lanning said, via team reporter Zachary Neel of USA Today.
Both Oregon and UCLA have byes this coming weekend, giving the Big Ten programs extra time to prepare for each other. This matchup will be a tall task for the Bruins, who are facing off against their first ranked opponent of the season on the road at Autzen Stadium.
