Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore was knocked out of Saturday's matchup against the USC Trojans after taking a brutal hit from linebacker Desman Stephens II. Stephens delivered a huge blow to Moore's head as the quarterback gave himself up on a slide early in the second quarter. Stephens was ejected from the game for targeting, and was later issued a one-game suspension for his "unacceptable" actions in the aftermath of the hit.
Moore went into the fencing response after the hit, an involuntary reflex indicative of a serious head injury. He was officially diagnosed with a concussion after the game, but MRI and CT scans came back clean with no further injuries. Moore shared his first public statement since the injury on Monday: "To my team, the community, and to the World, thank you.
These past 2 days have been very difficult, but through all of your prayers I have made progress. There’s times I question myself and the Lord and say Why now? but I quickly remember Jeremiah 29:11: 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'. I can only worry about today, and making sure I give today it’s full attention.
Go Ducks!" https://www.instagram.com/p/Dd12VpvPgak/?hl=en Moore was replaced by backup quarterback Dylan Raiola, who threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns as he led the Ducks to a 41-27 victory. Oregon will take the field for its next matchup against the UCLA Bruins on Saturday, Oct. 10.
