Nine months after suffering a season-ending ACL and LCL tear in 2025, Patrick Mahomes returned to the field for the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos on Monday night. Mahomes led his team to victory at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium, completing 15 of his 27 pass attempts for 184 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He showed no limitations with his movement, opening the game with a rushing touchdown on a quarterback scramble.
The Chiefs dominated the visiting Broncos, finishing the game with a 31-10 final score to open up the year. Mahomes delivered a strong message on social media following his return to the field on Monday night. "Want to give all glory and thanks to God!
Letting me be out there doing what i love again! ChiefsKingdom this is just the start see yall next week!" he wrote on X. Mahomes and the Chiefs will look to continue their positive momentum into next Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
That clash will once again take place under the lights at Arrowhead Stadium, kicking off at 8:20 p.m. ET for "Sunday Night Football."
