The New England Patriots are set to play the Chicago Bears on Thursday for their Week 7 matchup. The Patriots are entering this game with momentum, as they have won each of their last three games. This included them defeating the New York Jets by a 26-19 final score in Week 6.
Yet, as the Patriots prepare for their Thursday game against the Bears, they will officially be without one of their key offensive weapons. According to ESPN's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots have placed wide receiver Romeo Doubs on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury. With this, Doubs is set to miss at least the next four games.
Doubs was injured during New England's win against the Jets after catching a 42-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Drake Maye. The Patriots wide receiver fell awkwardly on his shoulder and then was officially ruled out for the game during the third quarter. The timing of this injury is rough for the Patriots.
They just got star wide receiver A.J. Brown back from injury but will now be shorthanded again with Doubs hitting injured reserve. Doubs is in his first season with the Patriots after spending the previous four campaigns with the Green Bay Packers.
In six games this season for New England, Doubs has recorded three touchdowns, 14 receptions, 261 receiving yards.
