Even after a 13-win season, the Jacksonville Jaguars haven't garnered much buzz as a Super Bowl contender. One analyst changed that by picking them to run the postseason gauntlet. Longtime CBS Sports columnist Pete Prisco went against the grain by picking the Jaguars, whom he previously covered as a beat reporter, to win it all.
He also made a bold NFC prediction, as Prisco has the Jaguars besting the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl LXI. "Two really good offensive teams that are gonna score a lot of points. Gonna be a fun Super Bowl," Prisco said.
"But in the end, I think Trevor Lawrence will make the play late to win it. Jacksonville wins their first-ever Super Bowl. In fact, the first one they ever get to.
You can call me a homer all you want, but you know what? I'd rather be right." Prisco believes the Jaguars will again win the AFC South, marking their first back-to-back division titles since 1998 and 1999. He said they're "a better team than they were a year ago" after closing the 2025 regular season with eight straight victories.
Jacksonville already had Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Travis Hunter before giving Trevor Lawrence another prominent wide receiver in Jakobi Meyers. Prisco expects big things from the starting quarterback in his sixth season. "He's comfortable in the offense, and they have so many weapons," Prisco said.
"There's gonna have to be a situation where some of those weapons aren't getting the football because they can't be on the field at the same time. They're gonna score a lot of points." As a No. 3 seed, the Jaguars eliminated the Houston Texans in the first round of Prisco's projected bracket. They then win a "shootout like we've never seen" over the Cincinnati Bengals before avenging last season's Wild Card Round loss to the Buffalo Bills for their first AFC championship.
