Prince’s NPG Records and the Prince Estate have announced an expanded edition of the artist’s 2007 album “3121,” arguably the best of his post 1990s albums. The set arrives December 11 digitally and in 3LP + Blu-ray and 2CD + Blu-ray sets. Following the success of the “Sign O’ the Times” restored concert film, “Prince: 3121 Las Vegas Concert” will be released theatrically in the U.S. and Canada beginning December 3 for a limited time, with tickets on sale November 11.
A live album, “3121 Las Vegas Live,” will also be released on triple-LP crystal blue vinyl and 2CD for Record Store Day Black Friday on November 27. The 154-minute live concert film spans hits, deep cuts and extended jams. The expanded digital edition pairs the original 12-track album with 10 additional raw recordings, including acoustic versions of “The Word,” “Love” and “Te Amo Corazón,” alongside “Time of Ur Life,” “The Streets of Panama,” “Another Girl,” “Glass Cutter” and more.
The physical editions pair “3121” with a Blu-ray featuring live concert footage filmed in Las Vegas in 2007. Originally released March 21, 2006, through NPG Records and Universal Music, “3121” became Prince’s first album to debut at No. 1 on the 200 and his fourth album to top the chart. The set spans his catalog, moving between “Purple Rain,” “Kiss,” “If I Was Your Girlfriend” and “U Got the Look,” selections from 3121 and Musicology, and covers including “Pass the Peas,” “Crazy” and “Play That Funky Music.” 1.
