The Las Vegas Raiders' Maxx Crosby received the NFL's largest individual fine for an incident during the Week 5 games.

The Las Vegas Raiders lost their second straight game of the season last weekend, falling to the New England Patriots in a 45-17 blowout at Gillette Stadium. And now, to add to that disappointing loss, Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby will also lose some of his money. The NFL handed out a hefty $23,882 fine to the Pro Bowler for his actions early in the game against the Patriots.

In the first quarter, a brief altercation involving Crosby occurred after a play and a pile-up on the field. As players stood up, Crosby was already on his feet and headbutted Patriots defensive tackle Cory Durden. A referee was standing nearby to see it happen.

Crosby's helmet-to-helmet hit resulted in a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness, along with a significant fine, which the NFL revealed in the Week 5 accountability report on Saturday. However, according to the league's accountability report, Crosby received the largest individual fine issued for any incident during Week 5.

The New York Jets' Minkah Fitzpatrick received two fines totaling more than Crosby's for several actions in a game against the Cleveland Browns. Crosby, 29, is a five-time Pro Bowl selection playing in his eighth season with the Raiders. He rejoined the team this offseason after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their trade for Crosby due to a failed physical.

This season, he's compiled nine total tackles, including three solo tackles, and has two sacks for a Raiders team that is 3-2, after winning their first three games to start the season. The humiliating loss to the Patriots came one week after the Raiders suffered a disappointing defeat against their division rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, in a closely contested matchup. Crosby recorded one tackle in the loss.

Although they return home for their next game, things could get more frustrating for Crosby and the 3-2 Raiders with their Week 6 matchup. Las Vegas returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 18, hosting Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, a team that has started at 4-1 and leads the AFC East division.
