The Baltimore Ravens finally solved their center issue on Wednesday, trading the Philadelphia Eagles for two-time Pro Bowler Cam Jurgens. So, when should Ravens fans expect to see Jurgens suited up on the field. According to Ravens head coach Jesse Minter, Week 6 seems to be the most realistic path.
They paid the premium price of a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick for Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-round pick, per ESPN insider Adam Schefter. The Ravens have also had a revolving door at center since losing three-time Pro Bowler Tyler Linderbaum to the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency this offseason. Jurgens should provide an immediate upgrade in the position after allowing 12 total pressures in pass protection, including one sack and one hit allowed to opposing pass rushers, this season, per Pro Football Focus.
The only question that remains is, how fast? Minter believes Jurgens’s experience with different offensive coordinators in Philadelphia should make for an easy transition, though. Mentally, he is at a really high level, I would say,” Minter continued.
Obviously, the terminology will be different for him. But with a guy like that — with the experience of having gone through a few different offenses — that will probably end up benefiting him now, rather than a guy coming from maybe one system.” A second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Jurgens played his college ball at Nebraska, where he was named third-team All-Big Ten Conference in 2021.
